Please note the message below and attached has been sent to all identified Healthcare Providers on 15 May 2024. We would be happy for you to share with your Society members.
Medscheme Holdings (Pty) Ltd (Medscheme) has received a notification from the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF) informing us that they intend suspending practice numbers where the annual Practice Code Numbering System (PCNS) renewal fees are due and remain unpaid. This decision will be implemented effective 1 June 2024.
According to the BHF list received on 10 May 2024, your PCNS number has been suspended due to your outstanding 2024 PCNS fees.
In line with the Medical Schemes Act 131 of 1998 (“the Act”), Medscheme as an administrator, managed care organisation and service provider has a legal and contractual obligation to ensure that the payment of claims complies with the Regulations stipulated in the Act. We therefore urge you to ensure that your 2024 PCNS annual fees are paid timeously to enable BHF to report to us accordingly by way of their daily PCNS file.
Please note that with effect from 1 June 2024, and while your practice number is suspended, your claims will be paid to members until such time as the associated fees are brought up to date and Medscheme is informed accordingly via the daily PCNS file.

If your 2024 PCNS fees were paid on or after 10 May 2024 and confirmation or acknowledgement has been received from BHF, please ignore this notification.
